The Helen & Allan Cruickshank Sanctuary is our favorite place to see the Florida Scrub-Jay. Seeing this spectator bird is certainly worth the drive! The Florida Scrub-Jay only lives in Florida and is threatened due to habit loss. In fact, this 140-acre wildlife refuge offers a glimpse into the challenge. The surrounding area is fully developed and without this amazing sanctuary, the birds would not have a chance. We recommend visiting the Helen & Allan Cruickshank Sanctuary in conjunction with a visit to the nearby Viera Wetlands.
